The use of stock images in this piece makes the video more interesting, it portrays a variety of messages to do with government and other popular and relevant issues. The stock footage also makes the video timeless because the morals are still relevant to today. The fades between the clips makes it all seem continuous and that its an accumulation of different points moulded into one. The close up of the guitar further emphasises that it's the main point of the song and the dialogue over the top from the stock footage seems like lyrics and this combination creates quite a dark but relevant message in the topic of morals and government. The layering of clips on top of one another synchronises the guitar and the stock footage making them blend better.
This video uses several varying elements to portray the image of the older generation being capable of being in a dance video and having a lot of energy. The location is quite traditional for a hotel and isn't very modern matching the character in the piece. The mid-shots of him at the start showing him preparing for his release of energy and the audience accepts the setting he's in because it fits in with his generation. The long shots of him dancing with elements of hand-held and tracking shows that he's the focus point and captures all of him in his environment. The song is quite modern which also creates an interesting contrast and defeats stereotypical young people dancing. The mood of the video is to most quite funny and abstract which is to do with the fact that someone of the older generation is doing this. This character make for a much more interesting story.

This song is quite a sad one and the different elements of the piece emphasise this through the clothing and location and feel of editing. The clothing of the characters is quite traditional but seems worn and overly used, this is consistent between the men and the women as they dress in an early to mid 20th century style. The location matches the clothing in the way its worn un seems uncared for. the positioning of the female characters and their address of the audience creates a dark mood and makes you feel sympathy. Especially when there is a long shot of the woman entering the water which could be reference to the only way out to her suffering. The contrast in tone of voice with the singers makes a more interesting video because you're not listening to the same tone all the time. The gritty lighting and an element of noise in the frame makes the video some degraded reflecting the mood of the song and adds to the tragedy.
The start of the video uses and orange tone and the use of old clothing, horses and white supremacy to make the period of time seem older to when there was racial separation. This theme is quite dark but the happy feel of the song contrasts with this to make it seem more comfortable. A consistent theme in the video is racism and police hatred which shows that they're reflecting positively toward it with the mood of the song and it doesn't get them down. The tracking shots show that the artist is the main focus point and his lyrics are what you're meant to be focusing on. The clothing and locations seem very comfortable to the artist like its his home territory. The high/low angles from the character on the horse to those on the field shows his authority as the one in charge and then when they jump into the frame it switches showing their freedom.
This video uses and Egyptian setting which offers a lot of room for different interpretations and themes, despite the fact that has historical reference it still plays a lot on fantasy which is very appealing towards the audience as it breaks the norm. The use of strong colours on people and location pushes the idea of a fantasy and lightens up the video. The theme of the video is based around a woman who gets what she wants and is drawn to expensive things which creates elements of comedy and drama which is interesting to the audience. The zoom at the start establishes the setting and female lead which already creates curiosity and makes you want to keep watching. The use of a simple keyed in background and foreground makes the video more abstract which is good because the video is a fantasy and is not meant to portray anything realistic.
From this task I learnt about how different stylistic elements contribute to the overall image and tone of the video. Also how different styles create different feelings within the audience and the differences in the way we process what we're seeing. I will have to take this onboard with my own project and be careful what stylistic elements I use where with the mise en scene, camera angles, editing and sound. As they can be manipulated in different ways to portray a variation of messages.
