24 - Logo Planning (UPDATED)

This band name is kind of jokey but the word punk identifies what genre of music the audience can expect. The top style is more bold and childish but a lot of those bands have that kind of theme and promote that kind of image. The middle style is a lot thinner and fits in with more of the indie genre which can be good because a lot of pop-punk bands have a cult following. The third one fits in with american college theme which suits the age group of a lot of these bands so that would appeal to that audience.

The band name Code 1337 makes reference to the hacking code 1337 which could relate to the rebellious feel of pop-punk music and lifestyle. The upper font is quite worn and damaged which fits in with the house style of pop-punk music where everything isn't perfect. The second font down is similar to its damaged feeling but different. It looks like no effort has gone into it and looks like its been tagged on a wall or something with a paintbrush. This idea about cult following and spreading the word rebelliously fits in with this font. The third font is quite childish and doesn't really suit the house style of the genre so I don't think I'll be using that one.

UPDATED

Because I changed the song for my music video I needed to change the band name and style to suit because the previous ones didn't. I've decided on the band name Utopia which represents the ideal world to live in so it matches the dream state of the video of being something positive. The Lithos Pro font is the one, I'm leaning toward because it has a mixture of the Helvetica and Herculanum fonts. It has simplicity as well as a hint of ancient style which suits well.

This task is important because it symbolises what brand I'm appealing to and it has to fit the theme of the song and the font is important because it is also part of what brand I'm going for. This all has to be thought through now so I'm not doing it when I build my poster and digipak.
